Just what I read..

Inspired by Nancy Pearl's "Book Lust Journal." I knew I would lose my book journal if I didn't keep it online.

The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde

The Well of Lost Plots (Thursday Next, Book 3) The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde

My review

rating: 3 of 5 stars
Now I have to read Dickens Great Expectations, Wuthering Heights and The Wind in the Willows.

Ultraword will improve books immensely but it will limit books to just three readers, allow for immediate historical re-writes and eliminate the need for generic characters...in other words, destroy the book world and Thursday Next must stop it. First, she has to find out who is behind it.

His Mistress by Morning - Elizabeth Boyle

His Mistress By Morning (Avon Romantic Treasure) His Mistress By Morning by Elizabeth Boyle

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars
If you could have a wish, and only one change in your life could affect that change, would you do it? Would you give up your place in society to have the man you loved? If it cost him and his family everything would you still do it? An inherited ring gives Charlotte the chance to be the love of Marlowe's life. However, instead of the steady man she knows, Marlowe is now a rake and Charlotte is no longer accepted in polite society since she is Marlowe's mistress. Is the wish worth it?

Jane Feather - A Husband's Wicked Ways

A Husband's Wicked Ways (Cavendish Square #3) A Husband's Wicked Ways by Jane Feather

My review

rating: 1 of 5 stars
I remember now why I stopped reading Jane Feather. The spy stories are weak, the characters flat and I really could care less about the romantic leads. I made it over 100 pages and I'm done. Life is too short to waste on poorly written, non-engaging books. So why did I read that stupid Brothers of Destiny all the way through?

The Mage by Jean Johnson

The Mage (The Sons of Destiny, Book 8) The Mage by Jean Johnson

My review

rating: 1 of 5 stars
The final book in the Brothers of Destiny and it was a let down after a 7 book build up. I can't believe I read the whole series. The writer needed an editor who understands the concept of split infinitives. My daughter and I had a riot parsing the following sentence from page 86 - - "The Darkhanan Witch looked much like she always did, her blonde hair plaited into a coronet on her head and the hooded, black, deep-sleeved robe draped over her shoulders that she always wore, regardless of the weather."

No, really, she does have another set of shoulders that she can use to replace the ones "she always wore."

By the end of the series I really hated Kelly and resented that Morg had saved her from the house fire. I empathized with her arsonists I wanted to get rid of her too.

Thank goodness the series is over and I still can't believe I wasted my time on them. At least I didn't pay for them - I borrowed them from the library.
